Youth Leadership Academy

The Lake Houston Outreach Youth Academy will begin in September of 2024. It is open to all youth entering into grades 6-12. We will meet once a month to learn about the habits of great leaders, service to our community and build networking skills. Our first class will have 8-12 young leaders and the following requirements must be met in order to be a Youth Leadership Academy graduate. You must attend the sessions in September and October, and it is mandatory to complete the community impact day and graduation project. Besides, these dates that are mandatory, you may miss one class day.

The Lake Houston Outreach Youth Academy will help our youth develop goal setting skills, public speaking and writing skills, and they will begin to learn about the benefits of having a mentor and becoming involved in your community. At each meeting, one student is required to research a question beforehand and do a short 5-10 minute presentation on their findings (What is the area of greatest need in the Humble, Kingwood, Atascocita community? Who is one business person in our community, and how have they made an impact, both professionally and through volunteer service to the community? What do you feel is missing in our area? How do you know what to wear to different events?"etc)

We are so excited to begin this journey of leadership with the youth in our community!
